A professional handball court involves more than just the correct dimensions. It requires the right flooring system to ensure player safety and optimal ball bounce, adequate lighting, proper ventilation, and advanced safety systems. At Technotrade Sports, we offer a turnkey solution for handball court construction, from design and planning to installation and maintenance, leveraging our extensive experience and partnerships with leading global suppliers.

Official Technical Specifications for a Handball Court

The design and implementation of a handball court are governed by precise specifications set by the International Handball Federation (IHF) to standardize the game globally. At Technotrade Sports, we strictly adhere to these standards to create professional courts that guarantee a fair, safe, and enjoyable experience for all participants.

Essential Court Dimensions

A handball court is a rectangle with exact dimensions: 40 meters in length and 20 meters in width. These dimensions are constant for all levels, from amateur to professional. The court is marked with precision, and a safety zone of at least one meter is required around the perimeter, extending to two meters behind the goal lines to ensure player safety during fast-paced action.

Key Playing Areas and Lines

The handball court features several critical zones and lines that define the rules of play. The goal area is a 6-meter radius semi-circle from the goal line, designating the goalkeeper’s exclusive zone. The free-throw line, also known as the nine-meter line, is a dashed line 9 meters from the goal, from which play resumes after minor fouls.

The seven-meter line is for penalty throws, positioned 7 meters from the goal, and is used for direct free throws resulting from major fouls. The center line divides the court into two equal halves, while the substitution lines define the areas for players entering and exiting during the match. Our handball court construction ensures every line is perfectly marked.

Goal and Net Specifications

The goal is the focal point of the handball court, measuring 3 meters in width and 2 meters in height. It must be securely anchored to the floor or the back wall to ensure stability during intense play. It is fitted with a strong, durable net that stops the ball and clearly indicates a goal. The goalposts and crossbar must be made of robust, impact-resistant materials and covered with protective padding for player safety.
